Samaj Prabodhan Academy’s founder members understood the need of higher education in one of most rural and earthquake affected area of Killari. In order to achieve the over all progress and prosperity of the Killari
and surrounding area, under the aegis of Samaj Prabodhan Akadamy, Latur Shahid Bhagatsingh Mahavidyalaya was established in the year 2000.
At present there are 09 Under-Graduate Departments. There is YCMOU, Nashik’s Distance Education Center started in the year 2006. In the year 2010 College has started Distance Education Center of Swami Ramanand
Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. It is successfully running Post-Graduation Courses in Marathi, Hindi, English, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology and Economics. Considering the need of the area
and increasing demand from the students Samaj Prabodhan Akadamy, Latur has also started Commerce faculty in the year 2009.

Shahid Bhagatsingh Mahavidyalaya is well–equipped with necessary infrastructure and audio-visual, ICT teaching-learning facilities. It has two acres of land, lush green garden with variety of trees, playground, ladies hostel, well equipped library with more than 9000 books, reference books, magazines, reading room. College is self sufficient in electricity as there is a Solar Energy Project. The college aims at academic and human excellence of its students and works accordingly.
